Name of the project: Tenso structure in Pizzighettone
With: Pierre-Alain Croset
Year: 2004
Pizzighettone is an urban center near the city of Cremona, in Lombardia, North of Italy. The fortification walls had been built to protect the passage on the river Adda. In the year 2004 the Pizzighettone city hall administration asked us a project for refurbishing the interior spaces of the Rivellino (main space of the fortified walls) in a space for exibitions, covering the exterior square with a tenso structure visible from the outside of the walls. The main pillar of the structure is suspended in the center of the square, creating the focal point for a circular dimension. This vertical element creates a relation with the bell tower just outside the walls.
